Windsor Alcohol & Drug Treatment Programs
Of the 27 addiction treatment facilities around Windsor, many offer a variety of different treatment programs.
When you first enter treatment, you’ll likely be evaluated by a treatment specialist. The results of that evaluation can determine what’s part of your treatment plan. Your plan could include any of the following:
- medical detoxification
- inpatient/residential treatment
- outpatient treatment
- dual-diagnosis treatment for co-occurring disorders
- medication-assisted treatment
- aftercare
Medical Drug & Alcohol Detox
One of the first treatments you may receive after your evaluation is a medical detox program. If you’ve built up a dependence on drugs and/or alcohol, quitting all of a sudden can cause intense withdrawal symptoms.
Medical detox programs provide support and supervision in a safe place. While these programs don’t treat alcohol or drug abuse directly, they help prepare you for treatment at a rehabilitation center.
Residential/Inpatient Drug Rehab
Inpatient care is one of the most intensive forms of addiction treatment you’re likely to find. With this treatment, you stay at a recovery center 24/7 and are given access to clinicians and therapists.
Inpatient Treatment also includes behavioral therapy, group therapy, wellness activities, and dual-diagnosis treatment for any co-occurring mental health disorders. You’ll also likely learn ways to cope with cravings and triggers.
Outpatient Treatment
Outpatient treatment offers similar services as inpatient care, but you’re able to go home after each treatment session.
Outpatient treatment can come in the form of two different programs: intensive outpatient programs (IOPs) and partial hospitalization programs (PHPs). Treatment services in these programs are similar to the services offered in inpatient rehab programs.
Opioid & Alcohol Treatment Programs
Medication-assisted treatment (MAT) may be recommended to treat severe forms of opioid or alcohol addiction.
With MAT, a healthcare provider prescribes medication to help ease cravings and heal the damage done to the brain and body by substance abuse. These medications may be paired with therapy and can include methadone, naltrexone, and buprenorphine.
Aftercare
Aftercare is there to support you after you leave a formal recovery program. It can help you get back on your feet and often includes sober-living housing, job assistance, and 12-step support groups. It can make long-term recovery easier to maintain.
Using Health Insurance For Addiction Treatment In Windsor, Connecticut
Addiction treatment is seen as an essential service which means most private insurance and Medicare/Medicaid cover at least a portion of it. To learn more about how to use your insurance for treatment, you can:
- call your insurance provider and ask how to use your benefits to pay for treatment
- contact rehab centers to ask about how to pay with insurance
- review your insurance documents to learn how to use your benefits for treatment
If you’re uninsured, the DMHAS helps adults with lower incomes. If you qualify, they can help you find no-cost or low-cost treatment.
