Urban participated in recovery from October 2006 to January 2007. Urban later spoke with The Times about his battle with alcoholism, stating “I feel lucky drugs haven’t defined my creativity,” revealing he had both written songs while drunk and written songs while sober.

Keith Urban was born on October 26, 1967, in New Zealand but moved to Australia two years later. At an early age, he was introduced to music and enjoyed the country genre, even taking guitar lessons in school.

During the early 1990s, Urban moved to Nashville, Tennessee, and continued as a country singer. Later in 1999, he released his self-titled debut album with the single “You’ll Think Of Me,” winning him the Grammy Award for Best Male Country Vocal Performance in 2005.

That same year, in 2005, Urban attended an Australian event in Hollywood where he met his future wife Nicole Kidman who is also Australian. The country star continued to receive praise in the music industry due to his multiple nominations and awards through the years.

The Voice & Other Accolades

The musical superstar joined the television show The Voice in 2011 as a judge and later appeared on American Idol as a judge in 2012. As a judge, he helped assist young musicians.

In 2014, Urban, alongside Tim McGraw and Taylor Swift, won the Academy of Country Music Video of the Year for “Highway Don’t Care.” He also won the Queensland Music Award for Highest Selling Single for his song “One Too Many” featuring Pink.

Urban participated in the Speed of Now world tour in 2022 and later released the single “Street Called Main” that same year.
