7 Best Apps For Addiction Recovery

Like other diseases, addiction requires professional treatment. However, you can also take steps to support your recovery journey at home.

For example, many people benefit from addiction recovery apps. Available on both iPhone and Android, these apps can help you stay calm, motivated, and drug-free.

    1. I Am Sober

As one of the most popular recovery apps, I Am Sober offers a free sobriety clock (also called a sobriety calculator) that tracks how long you’ve been substance-free. The app can also help you track and develop new, healthy habits.

In addition, it gives you access to a community of people who use the app and understand your struggles. You can even get a virtual 24-hour companion to help you cope with triggers.

I Am Sober also provides educational materials, including withdrawal timelines. These timelines describe what you can expect when you stop using a substance you’re physically dependent on.

    2. Twenty-Four Hours A Day

This free app (available on Apple and Android) offers daily meditations and prayers to help you stay sober. Every day, you’ll receive a notification reminding you to check out the day’s readings.

The app lets you bookmark your favorite readings and share them with loved ones via text or email. In addition, you can customize the font size and choose between light or dark mode for simpler reading.

If you need extra support, just shake your phone and get a random inspirational message. You can also access past daily readings at any time.

    3. SoberTool

Created by a Harvard-educated addiction counselor, this free app provides daily motivational messages to support your recovery. It also lets you track your sobriety and connect with other people in recovery via a chat forum.

In addition, SoberTool estimates how much money you’ve saved by quitting drugs. This feature can motivate you to stay sober even on your toughest days.

The app also offers immediate help in case you experience drug cravings. First, you’ll answer a series of questions that help you understand what triggered the craving. You’ll then receive an inspirational message that explains how to manage the craving and avoid relapse.

    4. Sober Grid

When you’re recovering from addiction, it’s normal to feel alone and misunderstood.

Sober Grid can decrease these feelings by connecting you with other people in recovery. As the largest sober social network, this free app lets you share content on a newsfeed and chat privately with other sober individuals.

You can share as much or as little personal information as you want. Some people use the app to meet sober friends in their area, while others just use it for anonymous virtual support. The app also has a sobriety clock.

    5. AA 12 Step Toolkit

Designed specifically for members of Alcoholics Anonymous, the AA 12 Step Toolkit makes following the 12 steps easier than ever.

It includes resources from the Big Book of Alcoholics Anonymous, including daily prayers, recovery stories, and coping tips. It can also connect you with online sponsors who can help you stick to your 12-step recovery plan.

The app is not a replacement for AA meetings. However, it helps you sharpen the skills you’ve learned in meetings and apply them to daily life.

    6. Joe And Charlie Big Book Study

This app, available on both Apple and Android, comes with over 1000 audio recordings related to 12-step programs like Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous.

Most of the tracks are narrated by two AA members named Joe and Charlie. They discuss their recovery journeys and explore important lessons from the AA Big Book.

In addition, the app includes recordings from other AA speakers, including motivational messages, recovery stories, passages from the Big Book, the Serenity Prayer, and guided meditations. It also features a sobriety clock.

    7. Nomo

Created by a person in recovery, this free app makes it easy to track your sobriety from multiple addictions at once.

As you progress in your recovery, you’ll earn digital tokens that motivate you to keep going. You can even share your sobriety counters with loved ones and post your digital tokens on Facebook and Twitter.

Nomo also has distraction tools to keep your mind off cravings, a calculator that estimates how much money your sobriety has saved you, and an online community where members can support each other.
