What Do Percocet Pills Look Like?

What Percocet looks like primarily depends on the drug manufacturer. The look of pills differ in terms of color, shape, strength, and imprint.

Percocet is the brand name for the combination of oxycodone hydrochloride and acetaminophen. It’s a synthetic opioid analgesic prescription drug and is typically used for the treatment of moderate to severe pain.

The painkiller works by attaching to opioid receptors in the brain and central nervous system and reducing the transmission of pain throughout the body.

    What Does Percocet Look Like?

Percocet comes in a variety of colors, shapes, and strengths. Knowing what legitimate Percocet looks like can help you stay away from any counterfeit forms of the drug. When obtained on the street, counterfeit pills can contain fentanyl and end up being life-threatening.

The only way to know for sure that what you’re taking is legitimate is to get a prescription from your healthcare provider.

    White

Percocet pills are white and round, and most contain 325 mg of acetaminophen and 5 mg of oxycodone. Where they differ is in the imprint that is stamped on each pill. Some of the imprints you may find include:

    • PERCOCET DuPont
    • 104
    • 4839 V
    • 5 325
    • 512
    • 54 543
    • IP 203
    • R P

    Blue

Percocet can also be found as a round blue tablet that consists of 325 mg of acetaminophen and 5 mg of oxycodone. The imprints can include:

    • PERCOCET 5
    • ALV 196
    • T 192
    • WES 201

    Yellow

Percocet also comes as an oval-shaped yellow tablet that can consist of either 325 mg of acetaminophen and 10 mg of oxycodone or 650 mg of acetaminophen and 10 mg of oxycodone.

The imprint on these yellow tablets is likely either “PERCOCET 10” or “PERCOCET 10/325.”

    Orange

There are also orange capsule-shaped or oval Percocet pills that consist of 325 mg of acetaminophen and 7.5 mg of oxycodone or 500 mg of acetaminophen and 7.5 mg of oxycodone. The imprints on these pills likely read “PERCOCET 7.5/325” or “PERCOCET 7.5.”

    Pink

There is also a pink oval Percocet tablet that contains 325 mg of acetaminophen and 2.5 of oxycodone. The imprint on this pill reads “PERCOCET 2.5.”

    Side Effects Of Percocet Use

Besides knowing what real Percocet looks like, it’s also important to know the side effects it can lead to. Some of the most common side effects the drug can produce include:

    • constipation
    • nausea
    • vomiting
    • drowsiness
    • headache
    • dizziness
    • abdominal pain

There are also certain drugs that Percocet shouldn’t be mixed with as the combination can lead to serious adverse reactions that can be deadly. This especially includes other prescription opioid drugs like hydrocodone, Vicodin, and OxyContin.

    Percocet Overdose

One dangerous reaction that can occur when you mix certain drugs with Percocet or take too much of the drug is an opioid overdose.

If left untreated, an overdose can be fatal. However, some signs and symptoms you can look out for include:

    • sedation
    • slow/shallow breathing
    • slow heartbeat
    • coma
    • nausea
    • vomiting
    • loss of appetite
    • sweating
    • stomach/abdominal pain
    • yellowing eyes and/or skin

If you notice these signs in yourself or a loved one, call 911 immediately. Additionally, if you know how to administer naloxone (Narcan), now is the time to use it. It can reverse the effects of the overdose and give you more time to get emergency help.

    Percocet Abuse Potential

The U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) classifies Percocet as a Schedule II controlled substance. This means that it has a high potential for abuse and can lead to psychological/physical dependence as well as substance use disorder.

If you abuse the pain reliever and build up a dependence, withdrawal symptoms are likely to occur when you stop using. These can be unpleasant and lead to relapse if you don’t seek proper treatment with a medical professional or in a detox program.
