  • Hometown Health is a division of Renown Health and northern Nevada’s most utilized insurance company.

It is also one of the country’s largest healthcare provider networks that offers immediate enrollment online and a comprehensive range of insurance plans that includes coverage for outpatient and inpatient addiction treatment as well as behavioral health services.

How To Determine Hometown Health Insurance Benefits For Substance Abuse Treatment

Hometown Health provides an online tool called My Benefits Coverage that lets members access their benefit information. Another way to learn if your policy pays for substance abuse treatment is to simply call the number printed on the back of your insurance ID card.

You can also call treatment facilities directly to find out if they accept Hometown Health Insurance.

Does Hometown Health Cover Detoxification Programs?

Completing a medical detox before entering a therapeutic program is required by many alcohol or drug addiction treatment centers. Detoxing is the safest way to eliminate all traces of drugs and alcohol from the body.

Before beginning detox, patients must first have Hometown Health precertify the treatment as a “medical necessity”. Hometown Health refers to precertification as a Utilization Review.

Does Hometown Health Cover Inpatient Drug Or Alcohol Rehab?

Yes, Hometown Health covers inpatient treatment as long as substance use disorder treatment is pre certified by the company. Inpatient (residential) treatment allows individuals to remain at the rehab center 24/7 where they receive behavioral therapy and other mental health services.

Residential addiction treatment centers alleviate drug abuse problems with holistic and evidence-based care. Family therapy with family members may also be included. People who have tried outpatient treatment but relapsed are good candidates for inpatient rehab.

Does Hometown Health Insurance Cover Outpatient Drug Or Alcohol Rehab?

Yes, as long as outpatient treatment is pre certified by Hometown Health. In the event a policyholder is not pre certified for some reason, they can still enter outpatient alcohol or drug treatment but will have their benefits reduced by 50 percent.

Outpatient drug or alcohol rehab is recommended for those who have work or family obligations they cannot neglect. Outpatient rehab is also suggested for people who have never been in an addiction treatment program.

Does Hometown Health Cover Intensive Outpatient Treatment?

The difference between intensive outpatient programs (IOPs) and standard outpatient programs primarily involves the number of hours a person spends during the day at the treatment center or at counseling office visits.

In addition, individuals in IOP often have other issues that require more in-depth health treatment. Precertification is needed by Hometown Health before the company pays for intensive outpatient treatment.
