Cody Longo was an American actor and singer who worked as a solo artist. He is most famously known for his role as a soap opera star on the hit show Days of Our Lives. Unfortunately, he passed away from chronic alcohol abuse at the age of 34.
How Cody Longo Died
Longo passed away at his home in Austin, Texas, on February 8, 2023, at the age of 34. Alcohol bottles were found at the scene.
The Days of Our Lives’ actor Cody Longo’s cause of death was revealed as chronic ethanol abuse according to the autopsy report gathered by TMZ.
In fact, the Travis County Medical Examiner’s office ruled that Longo’s death did not occur under suspicious circumstances, but due to his alcohol misuse which led to fatal alcohol poisoning.
Longo’s wife Stephanie stated “Cody was our whole world” after his death. He left behind his wife as well as his three children Elijah, Lyla, and Noah.
Cody Longo’s History Of Substance Abuse
The New York Times revealed Longo struggled with alcohol addiction for several years. After Longo’s death, several family members reported that he participated in chronic drinking throughout his life.
In 2020, he was arrested on a domestic assault charge. He was intoxicated at the time of the incident.
Cody Longo’s Attempts At Addiction Treatment
According to family members, Longo attended a rehab center the summer before his death in February. Longo’s representative Alex Gittelson expressed his condolences by stating Longo was a “dear friend who will be missed.”

About Cody Longo
Cody Longo was born in Littleton, Colorado, on March 4, 1988. Longo grew up surrounded by family members who were musicians and artists. At a young age, Longo taught himself to play the piano in what would be the beginning of his musical career.
Later he would participate in theater productions of Grease and Romeo and Juliet. Longo moved to Los Angeles, California to begin an acting career after his high school graduation.
Acting Career
Throughout his short career, Longo appeared in numerous films and television shows. Longo joined the cast of the Bring It On franchise in Bring It On: Fight to the Finish.
Longo continued his career by starring in the TV show Make It or Break It. By 2011, Longo had an extensive resume and appeared in the popular CSI: Crime Scene Investigation TV show.
Shortly after, Longo played Nicholas Alamain on NBC’s popular soap opera Days of Our Lives and was later featured on Hollywood Heights as Eddie Duran.
Throughout his TV and film career, Longo continued playing music, later moving to Nashville, Tennessee to focus on his passion.
