    Valium (Diazepam) Street Names

The benzodiazepine Valium has street names such as “downers,” “tranks,” “vallies,” “candy,” “benzos,” and “French blues.” People who buy and sell Valium on the illicit drug market likely use these names.

Valium is a brand name prescription drug that contains diazepam. It can be prescribed to relieve anxiety symptoms. However, Valium may have a high potential for drug abuse due to its strong sedative effects.

Abusing Valium to get high can have serious side effects. A 2017 report from the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration states that diazepam was in high demand at the time, along with alprazolam (Xanax) and clonazepam (Klonopin).

    Common Street Names For Valium

Possible drug slang terms for Valium sold on the street may include:

    • downers
    • vals
    • vallies
    • tranks
    • chill pills
    • V
    • French blues
    • candy

These street names may come from the appearance or side effects of Valium. Street names of prescription drugs such as Valium may vary depending on location, and may change over time.

Other Illicit Drugs Related To Valium

An anesthetic drug known as ketamine may be sold under the street name “cat Valium.” Street ketamine may not contain any Valium, and may instead cause psychosis and severe dizziness if abused.

Klonopin is another benzodiazepine that contains clonazepam instead of diazepam. Klonopin may be sold as “super Valium” on the illicit drug market.

    Risks Of Taking Street Valium

Illicit use of Valium can lead to a substance use disorder. Valium may be commonly abused alongside drugs such as prescription painkillers, weed, amphetamines, stimulants, and other benzodiazepines.

Mixing Valium with opioids, such as fentanyl and codeine, and other substances can cause serious side effects such as slowed breathing.

A combination of OxyContin (oxycodone), Vicodin (hydrocodone), diazepam, and Restoril (temazepam) may have caused a fatal overdose in the late actor Heath Ledger. Professional addiction treatment centers can help patients find alternatives to illicit substance abuse.
