Lyndon Alcohol & Drug Treatment Programs
While the number of treatment centers in Lyndon may be small, most of them offer a variety of addiction treatment programs to ensure everyone gets the help they need.
When entering treatment, you’ll likely go through an assessment that can help treatment providers know which treatment programs are best for you. The following programs could be part of your treatment plan:
- medical detox/detoxification
- inpatient/residential treatment
- outpatient treatment
- medication-assisted treatment (MAT)
- dual-diagnosis treatment for co-occurring mental health disorders
- aftercare
Medical Drug & Alcohol Detox
Medical detox is a short-term process used when you enter treatment. When you’ve built up a dependence, quitting drugs and alcohol can cause severe withdrawal symptoms like seizures and vomiting.
Medical detox ensures you’re in a safe place if those withdrawal symptoms show up.
Healthcare professionals may give you medication to alleviate the symptoms and ensure you’re stable for rehab.
Residential/Inpatient Drug Rehab
Inpatient rehab offers behavioral therapy, group therapy, wellness activities, and dual-diagnosis treatment, if necessary.
While in inpatient treatment, you live at the rehab facility. How long you stay there depends on the program and the severity of your addiction. These rehab programs can last between a few weeks to a couple of months.
Outpatient Treatment
Outpatient treatment likely offers behavioral and group therapy just like inpatient care. But unlike inpatient treatment, outpatient programs allow you to live at home instead of at a treatment center.
The two most common outpatient programs are intensive outpatient programs (IOPs) and partial hospitalization programs (PHPs). IOP sessions are at least three times a week while PHP sessions are five times a week.
Opioid & Alcohol Treatment Programs
Medication-assisted treatment (MAT) is pretty common when treating opioid and alcohol addiction. Vermont has it too but they call it the Hub & Spoke System of Care.
Health professionals (“Spokes”) and treatment centers (“Hubs”) provide MAT in the form of methadone, buprenorphine, and Vivitrol. These medications help ease cravings and lessen withdrawal symptoms.
Aftercare
Completing a treatment program doesn’t mean you won’t need help anymore. Those recovering still need some form of support, and that’s where aftercare comes in. Aftercare can include sober-living housing, support groups, prevention planning, and employment assistance.
Using Health Insurance For Addiction Treatment In Lyndon, Vermont
Most health insurance plans classify addiction treatment as an essential service and cover some or all of the cost.
That being said, what your plan covers can depend on the treatment you need and which treatment provider you go to. To find out what exactly your plan covers, you can:
- contact your private insurance provider and discuss your benefits
- call your Medicare/Medicaid representative to ask which providers are covered under your plan
- review your insurance documents to learn more about your policy and benefits
If you’re uninsured, look for drug and alcohol rehab programs that offer a sliding fee scale or some other form of financial assistance for those who qualify.
