  • Adderall & Weight Loss | The Dangers Of Misuse

Adderall & Weight Loss | How Adderall Can Affect Your Weight

Adderall is a stimulant prescription medication that is used primarily to treat people who struggle with attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and narcolepsy. Adderall can help increase focus, concentration, and motivation.

This stimulant drug has many side effects, including weight loss. Due to societal pressure and the false notion that weighing less can make you more attractive, Adderall has become a drug that many abuse and use solely as a way to lose weight.

Because of this, it’s important to discuss the dangers of misusing any stimulant drug, especially Adderall.

Weight Loss & Other Adderall Side Effects

Adderall consists of amphetamine and dextroamphetamine. While the drug helps those struggling to concentrate, it can also be abused by those who seek to lose weight.

However, one should know that with Adderall comes a wide array of other side effects. Some of the side effects you might also experience include:

    • irritability
    • dizziness
    • anxiety
    • depression
    • tremors
    • constipation
    • heart palpitations
    • stomach pain
    • increased blood pressure
    • nausea
    • restlessness
    • changes in heart rate

Stimulant drugs can cause a number of unintended issues. Trying to lose weight with Adderall is unhealthy and can cause serious damage to both your physical and mental health.

The Dangers Of Misusing Adderall For Weight Loss

Abusing prescription drugs to help with weight loss can ultimately lead to harmful effects. Due to the appetite suppression that Adderall can cause, serious conditions can develop such as anorexia and other eating disorders.

By abusing Adderall, there’s a risk of addiction and dependency. Adderall is not meant to be used as a weight loss drug. Using Adderall should be a decision determined by your doctor.

If you’re uncomfortable with your weight or body mass index, Adderall is not the answer. Dieting because of obesity or weight gain should be completely separate from stimulant drugs that can do more harm to your wellness than you might expect.

You can maintain a healthy weight without abusing stimulant drugs such as Adderall, which increases the risk of addiction.
