Tramadol is a prescription medication that can treat moderate-to-severe pain, including chronic pain and pain following an injury or surgery.
Common brand names for the drug include ConZip, Qdolo, Ryzolt, Ultracet, and Ultram. As an opioid, it acts as an analgesic (pain reliever) by changing how the body responds to pain.
Because it can make you feel relaxed and euphoric, tramadol has high abuse potential. Drug abuse occurs when you use a drug in a manner not prescribed by a clinician.
Most people who abuse tramadol get it from the black market or off the street.
Tramadol Street Value
Tramadol is available in 50 milligram and 100 milligram pills. In general, a single 50mg pill costs about $1 on the street, while a 100mg pill costs about $5.
Street prices can vary depending on location and supply. In places with a high supply of tramadol, the drug may cost less. In places with a low supply of tramadol, the drug may cost more. In many cases, supply is higher in cities and lower in rural areas.
Tramadol Street Prices Vs. Prescription Prices
As with most prescription drugs, prescription tramadol is much cheaper than tramadol on the street. Depending on your location and insurance, a prescription for 60 50mg tramadol pills can cost as little as $10. On the street, the same amount of pills would typically cost about $60.
How Does The Street Price Of Tramadol Compare To The Street Price Of Other Opioids?
Like tramadol, many other prescription opioids cost between $1 and $5 per pill on the street. These include hydrocodone, hydromorphone, oxymorphone, methadone, Norco, and Vicodin.
However, some opioids are much more expensive. These include:
- Percocet (oxycodone and acetaminophen), which costs about $10 per pill
- Suboxone (buprenorphine and naloxone), which costs about $20 per pill
- oxycodone (brand name OxyContin), which costs about $20 per pill
- fentanyl, which costs about $40 per pill
